Eclipse + St. Louis

Upon arrival in St. Louis, we hung out with DH2’s childhood friend and his adult kids. We hopped in the car to drive south to scout out the right spot to watch the eclipse. After a stop at Walmart to get chairs and vodka, we landed in Farmington for the night. The day of the eclipse, we drove south to Sam Baker State Park to set up our viewing spot. It was a lovely day and we were lucky to have a clear sky to watch the sun event.

The eclipse was unsettling yet glorious as usual. The drive took 4 hours to return to St. Louis and my back and hips did not like sitting in the back seat of a car!

St. Louis

I was not expecting to enjoy St. Louis as much as I did. The botanic gardens were filled with tulips and I had such joy seeing all the colors and varieties. The Climatron geodesic dome conservatory was a draw for DH2. The BBQ is insanely good so we took advantage of that culinary delight. We wandered through the Gateway arch museum and took advantage of the sun to take pix. The Budweiser tour was more fun than the Coors tour in Golden. We visited a friend who works at the zoo, I went up to the top of the arch (good fun), and we went to the art museum.
