The Fault in Our Stars

How did I get to the place that I read John Green’s The Fault in Our Stars: On the mugglecast podcast, they often talk about other books to read > They discussed John Green’s Will Grayson, Will Grayson so I read that > the same people who brought us mugglecast have a fansite Hypable which promoted The Fault in Our Stars > pictures and stories soon populated my Facebook feed about the TFIOS movie > I put a hold on the book months ago > it shows up available to me 2 weeks before the movie is released.

I didn’t really know it was about cancer. Or maybe I didn’t want to know.

I asked Son if he had read the book. He said no but that several people had done oral reports on it so he knew what it was about. I asked him if he wanted to read the book or see the movie and he said no because we had enough cancer in our lives right now.

The story is of a teen girl having cancer who falls in love with a boy who has cancer. Gosh, no happy ending here. There is a subplot which takes them to Holland to get answers from an obnoxious writer about the teen’s favorite book. According to reviews on Goodreads, many people cry during this book. Me, not so much. My reality makes horrific movies or tragic books seem reasonable.
