I met up with DH2 after his backpacking trip to find him hobbled from knee pain. We drove to the top of Mt Wellington instead of hiking it this year.
Maria Island
Maria is pronounced Mariah. We picked up our Tassie GF and drove through beautiful land to arrive at the ferry where we traveled to Maria Island. We saw fossils, limestone cliffs, and I saw my first wombat!!!
The next day we visited the Tessellated Pavement and Port Arthur. The memorial to those who were killed in the gun attack in 1996 made me sad. I’m glad that this spurred the government to create strict gun laws. I wish the US would have any kind of gun restrictions.
It was a short trip but I enjoyed exploring new parts of Tasmania.
