DH2 did an eight-day backpacking trip on the South Coast Trak of Tasmania. Thankfully I did not go but I did catch up with him at the end of his trip so we could have a nice weekend in Hobart.
We didn’t know it would be a party weekend in Hobart but we experienced the Wooden Boat Festival.
The demographic was older than us and any children there had been brought by their grandparents. There were booths for food, wood spitting demonstrations, and boats for sale. Anything you could possibly want for your boat, you could buy here.
We had a lovely dinner with some of the hiking group – the guys couldn’t get enough to eat and drink!
On Saturday, some of the hiking group ferried to Mona (Museum of Old and New Art) for the afternoon. It is one of the best museums I’ve ever been to. The spider web art had many iterations of how it was displayed.
We wandered to a pub afterward for beer and burgers. It was a lovely day.
On Sunday, we met up with a local friend and had a nice lunch before we returned to Melbourne. Hobart is a nice small city and easily walkable. I bet we’ll go back sometime.
