Mountain-like

I told my kids that one day over winter break I was going to take them on a trip. The last time we did something like this, we went to Palm Springs Tramway and played in the snow. It required us to get up at 3am to catch our scheduled tram up the mountain. Son tried to guess where we were going. No, we didn’t have to get up early but weather was a contributing factor in when we went. He asked if we were going to the mountains. Eh, how do you say no when we’re going to a place called Magic Mountain?

I kept it a mystery until I had a date when we could go. I gave the kids 20 questions to guess where we were going but when we got to 18, they became discouraged because they couldn’t get the answer. I then gave them unlimited questions and started helping them with good questions to ask. With the help of google maps, they got close enough. They were excited to go since they had never visited the amusement park before.

I informed the kids that the temperature would be between 41 and 53 degrees and that they should dress accordingly. Did they? No. Daughter complained so annoyingly that I gave her my gloves just to make the rest of the day emotionally tolerable! I was freezing but at least I didn’t have to listen to her whining. The sacrifices moms make.

The roller coasters were so much fun! We got to go on 5 in 2 hours and then 4 in the next 6 hours. Needless to say that the lines became way too long.

I went to Magic Mountain a couple times as a teenager, once when I was 28 and now when I’m 49. A lot has changed but I still love the wild rides.

Daughter drove both ways – sort of a thrill ride in itself!
