In the final week of this Melbourne visit, I wasn’t able to check off everything I wanted to do this trip but it does give me a start on next year’s list. There were other fun things I did that weren’t on my list.
An unexpected excursion was a walk through a First Nation’s cemetery. Current day burial ground, not ancient. Kangaroo littered the landscape with the Melbourne CBD in the background.
For the last night I could visit the skydeck, I got some night time shots.
For food, we finally made it to B’Churrasco Brazilian BBQ where I ate so much meat I felt like rolling home. As a work group, we also went to Hochi Mama, an Asian-fusion restaurant. The food was outstanding. I’ve officially gained 3.8lbs this trip.
After multiple attempts to get group tickets to see Tyama: A multisensory experience of nature, I just went by myself one afternoon. Curated at the museum, this reminded me of the VanGogh immersive experience. Light projections on the ceiling, walls, and floor help you feel like you’re in a magical environment. One room had moth projections that when you approached the wall, the moths would flutter around you. One room was about bats and echolocation so the lights were triggered by clapping. The third room was an underwater experience complete with skittering crabs, schooling fish, and occasional rays or sharks swimming through. The final room was a whale dreaming story. I would have liked to have had more time in each room but was pushed along even though it was not a busy day.
