Although we’re not in our usual QV apartment building, we’re kitty-corner so at least we’re in the same neighborhood and know the lay of the land. Dropping into deep winter is jarring. Thankfully we got 2 consecutive days of sunny, if not cold, days.
In January/February when we were here, I wanted to re-visit my favorite Korean BBQ restaurant, but it was closed for renovations. Happily, G2 was open and we dined on baked-tofu salad, bulgogi, and a pitcher of lychee rice wine. I’ve gained 3 lbs in 3 weeks.
This week I got my hair cut, visited the Queer exhibit at the National Gallery of Victoria (NGV), and finally made it up the Eureka building to the skydeck.
There were scopes that focused on a building to help orientate where you were. I used my camera to see the Shrine of Remembrance. The pics below show what the camera saw and what I blew it up as so you can see the memorial.
Public art
In Federation Square, there were multiple large eyeballs scattered about, including a large head made out of these eyeballs. The subject was surveillance. Also in Fed Square, we went to Mabu Mabu Big Esso featuring Torres Strait Islander cuisine. We ate Rock baked yam, sea parsley, saltbush and Warrigal greens chimichurri, pickled karkalla.
Lune Croissanterie
In Lonely Planet’s Best Places to Eat in Every Country, Lune was a must visit for us. The line was outrageous for the Lune located down the street from us, we walked the 2.3km to the Fitzroy location. The menu, is whatever is on the counter for the day. We were not disappointed. 10/10.
