Melbourne 2025 April

U3A adventures continued with multiple trips to Williamstown courtesy of the walking groups and I volunteered to bring the wine for the Wine Appreciation group this month. My idea was to bring California wines but there wasn’t enough of a variety so my theme was “countries I’ve been to in the last 2 years.” In the photography group, we explored churches. Churches, it turns out occupy more of my brain than I had hoped. When we travel, churches are in the top 5 list of what we do when we roll into a city. I think about angles, light, and then subject. This was a fun exercise.

Churches

We finally made it to 1000 Steps – our only hike in this trip. It felt good to be hiking and boy did my glutes hurt the next day!

Bendigo

Prompted by the Frida Kahlo exhibit, we journeyed by train to Bendigo. The botanic garden had a theater set up that reminded me of Lotusland. Saturday night in town was way too quiet, so we just drank in the pub across from Town Hall and then walked back to our room. The Kahlo exhibit was really good and I found an interesting lotus sculpture while DH2 found a used book store.

For Easter, we walked from Williamstown to Yarraville and then the next day we walked from Williamstown to Altoona. Oof, that was a lot of walking.

This Harry Potter Exhibit is the last time I will consume anything by JK Rowling given her horrendous transphobic rants. I am sad to leave a beloved fandom but I can no longer support her franchise.

We spent the last week of April on a trip to Canberra and Sydney!
