We arrived and checked into our favorite apartment complex. The accommodation was only on the 9th floor and the nearby buildings blocked out a proper sunset. We were still thrilled to be in the CBD with the world of flavors at our fingertips. Sadly, basement sushi was closed 🙁 but we found some new favorite places to eat.
I finally toured the Shrine of Remembrance which included a display about military wear crossing over to general fashion e.g. aviator glasses and trench coats.
The Triennial was on at the NGV and loved the work as always. It had the Boston Dynamics dogs, an animated Hieronymus Bosch installation, and 2 huge spaces devoted to the physical brilliance of “Smac” McCreanor.
While DH2 was backpacking in Tasmania, I used his unlimited Myki card to go to the MCG to scope out the trip for the upcoming Taylor Swift concert. I tried to get interesting sunrise shots on the Brighton beach boxes but think that cool photos I’ve seen have seen on social media are photoshopped.
I only did one sunset chase to catch the sun setting between the Bolte Bridge pylons and although there were no clouds, it was a lovely evening none the less.
Other things we did:
- visited a family farm outside of Geelong where I got to stand in the back of a truck while it bounded through the bush.
- went to the Hellenic museum
- drank Jack Daniels and coke while watching the Australian Open and then got severely rained on
- finally saw the inside of the Myer Music Bowl
- took a tour with Blonde Matthew whom I follow on Tiktok and learned some cool new things about the city
After all of this, I joined DH2 in Tasmania for a couple of days after his backpacking trip.
