When it’s going to be a red-flag day, you need to get your hike done early. I had not hiked the Jesusita trail to the top in years and years. I had taken the kids after the fire but we didn’t make it to the top. They had been more interested in irritating each other than going for a nice hike back in 2009.
Starting at 7am, the trail was blissfully shaded in preparation for the hot day that was forecast. Very few wildflowers were still blooming. The top was wonderful even if the dog was puking and refused food and water. The reptiles were happy and the air bathed me in wonderful caresses.
