Last year, we were slated 3 times to visit friends in Jamison, a country town 3 hours north-east of Melbourne, but plans were cancelled due to illness or lock down. Once we knew we were returning to AU, I messaged my friend to see their availability for us to visit.
Leaving on a Friday afternoon, we rented a car to drive through Yarra Valley and little country towns, watching for animals on the road, and listening to David Sedaris’s “A Carnival of Snackery.”

The view from the country house was beautiful and the house was fun with a hot tub on the porch and a cooking structure that had a pizza oven, smoker, and traditional BBQ. We bopped into the local pub for a beer and came back to make pizza!
On Saturday we headed north to Powers Lookout to view King Valley before we journeyed to Chrismont Cellar Door Winery and Restaurant in Chestnut. The food and wine were outstanding.
Waking up to a cup of coffee in the hot tub and closing the evening with a glass of wine in the hot tub is a grand way to spend the weekend. We headed off early on Sunday so I could go to the Mid-summa pride parade.
