After 3 months of physical therapy, I was given the go-head to run to see how my neck responded. I’m not all that excited about running but it is part of the triathlon and it is different from walking, of which I’m getting tired.
Before my disk bulge this spring, I had prepared myself for running. I purchased a good pair of running shoes and a new running bra. Good equipment is key in my comfort and success in what I do.
I never run far. I prefer to run in intervals and started with a 2:1 minute run/walk. I tried desperately to get a timer app set properly on my phone but I reverted to using my sports watch to time myself.
I got to try out my new accessories and after a good warm-up, I did 7 intervals.
The good news is that my neck was no worse for wear after this experiment. I can’t say so much for my quads! My ankle and knee squeaked at me too. I’ll add running once a week to my exercise line up and hope that nothing gets injured because of it!
