On Wednesday, I announced to my kids that Thursday would be the first day of CSA for the year. There was positive murmurings and then Daughter asked enthusiastically if that meant we would start getting kale on a weekly basis. She was very happy when I answered in the affirmative. Then they wanted to know if this was the season for kale and I let them know that while kale was available almost all of the time, we would be getting mostly greens during the remaining winter months.
On Thursday, I picked up kale, chard, spinach, spicy greens, lettuce, fava bean leaves. That’s enough greens for a week! We also got other goodies: radishes, carrots, beets. We had a huge salad last night and we relished the freshness of the bounty.
I’m tickled that my kids genuinely like greens and look forward to their addition to our nutritional fare.
