Fitness End of the Year

IMG_6353I started 2012 with a 6 month-old knee injury and an undiagnosed shoulder problem. Was the body telling me something?

The year was a process of trying to find out what was wrong, how to fix, and how to recover. It was a series of starts and stops of activities. Pain, perseverance, Percocet. Physical therapy became a type of fitness for me.

I still exercised every weekday minus the day of and after my shoulder surgery. I exercised many weekends as well. I guess there were very few days that I didn’t exercise. It’s just what I do, don’t think about it: just do it.

I can say with certainty that my body is in much better shape than it was in the beginning of the year. I noted happily in Yosemite that I could hike with no pain. I can start 2013 with the hope of a triathlon in August.
