The annual Lotusland fundraiser was called Once Upon a Time. It was a fairytale based extravaganza with as many people preparing, serving, and acting, as there were attending.
When we arrived, trays of cocktails were available: wine, champagne, martinis, lady slippers. Yum. “Stations” of fairytales were interspersed in the garden where kids, teens and adults played out their part. Trays of appetizers and additional alcohol were also available at each of the stations.
This was a formal affair with women wearing shimmery, glittery, sheer loveliness. Watching them walking around in spike heels was almost as entertaining as the fairytale adventure.
After the sit-down dinner, the auction made me gasp for breath. When the wishing well sold for $35K, all I could think about was how many years of college that would cover.
It was a magical evening of fun.
