I open my refrigerator in search of a snack. I’m hungry and just want something easy to eat. I peer in at the contents and all I see are vegetables and condiments. Nothing I can actually eat. Everything has to be prepared. Sigh.
How many types of hot sauce does one family need? Apparently mine needs 5 types:
- Tabasco
- Jalapeno Tabasco
- Chipotle Tabasco
- Dave’s Gourmet Temporary Insanity
- Tapatio
- this does not include the ground chile garlic oil in the cupboard
There are the traditional types of condiments:
- mustard (yellow and dijon)
- mayo
- catsup
- BBQ
Common sauces:
- Soy
- Worcestershire
- Hoisen
- Black bean
- horseradish
- red pepper curry
For cocktails:
- black olives
- green stuffed olives
- onions
- artichoke hearts
Pickled things:
- Hot pepper rings
- Peperoncini
- Banana pepper rings
- pickle slices
- capers
- sun dried tomatoes
Sweet and juice:
- Lime juice
- Lemon juice
- ice cream sauce (caramel and chocolate)
- maraschino cherries
- jelly (strawberry and boysenberry)
- maple syrup
Milky things:
- Sour cream
- plain yogurt
- butter
Other things:
- Salad dressing (2 types)
- minced garlic
- minced ginger
- yeast
- nutritional yeast
All of these yummy things but they are ingredients rather than food I can eat now. I have to take those raw veggies and do something to them to use these varied condiments. I wish there were leftovers.
