Challenge Day 91

91. Family Heirloom: Write about an object that’s been passed through the generations in your family.

Nothing was ever passed down from my father’s side of the family. My maternal grandparents were poor and didn’t have much from their own parents. I think there’s a pair of portraits that my cousin has. My maternal grandfather would only eat with one fork, refusing all other utensils, and I wonder what that was about. Obsessive-compulsive? I have the very old fork with its tines bent, in my cache of stuff at home. When my maternal grandmother was young, she had waist long hair so when it was cut off, it was braided and saved. I have the long braid in my cedar chest. I also have a pair of my grandmother’s glasses plus her bed frame (used by my son) and dresser (used by my daughter until xmas) but I think the dresser should be moved to an antiques dealer since I don’t think anyone will use it again.
