79. Hero: Write a tribute to someone you regard as a hero.
Although I was happy Ruth Bader Ginsburg was on the Supreme Court, I didn’t know what an amazing woman she was until I read Notorious RBG: The Life and Times of Ruth Bader Ginsburg by Irin Carmon in July of 2016. In retrospect, I was girding myself against the possibility that tRump would become president and wanted to know that our rights would be safe even if he won the election. I marvel at the sexism that RBG overcame personally and how she took that and tried to apply it to all humans. I found her story forward-thinking and refreshing. The 2018 movie On the Basis of Sex only touched on the issue and trial that made her famous but I would have loved to see a movie of her whole life. She is inspiring and motivating not to put up with oppression and sexism.
Every young woman should read Notorious RBG. Young women who say “I’m not a feminist” but enjoy all the advantages that RBG fought for, need to know that that struggle has been.
