40. Car Keys: Write about someone getting their driver’s license for the first time.
My kids were not as excited as I was about getting my license at age sixteen. Their whole cohort had little interest in driving which I did not understand. Since there were two years between daughter and son and I had to drive son around anyway, I didn’t push too hard for daughter to get her license. I think she got her license shortly before my son did.
As soon as son was eligible for driving lessons, I signed him up. He took the lessons and completed all the day and night driving hours as specified. I took him on his birthday, but he failed. I don’t remember how much time he had to wait to be able to take the test again (a month?) but as soon as he could, I drove him to the DMV to try again. Success!! I was so happy to no longer be the mommy taxi.
