341. Forgiveness: Write about a time when someone forgave you or you forgave someone.
Forgiveness isn’t about the other person feeling better, it’s about you feeling better. Having trauma, being angry or sad over what someone else has done lives inside of you. They may not understand why you’ve the feelings you do, or even know you have those feelings. It’s about you processing the experience and coming to terms with whatever it is. It’s never saying what they did was OK, but that YOU are OK. You have the choice whether you forgive someone or not. If you can set aside the feelings to a more neutral place and “forgive” then you have more space in your mind and feelings for more positive things. This is hard work and not an easy thing to do, but it is helpful in moving forward with better mental health.
