323. Decade: Choose a favorite decade and write about it. (IE: 1980’s or 1950’s for example)
I imagine that a person’s favorite decade is the one they became an adult, well it’s certainly why I like the 1980’s. I was in college in the early ‘80’s and felt liberated to escape the people I went to school with from kindergarten though high school so I could be defined by who I was then rather than by what people thought about me growing up. In a sorority, I had opportunities to meet interesting people, go to theme parties, and dress up in cute clothes. I moved to San Jose which was yet another step away from my birth city and I had another set of amazing experiences of grad school, using a computer for the first time, traveling solo across country, and getting my first job. I got to see the emergence of MTV, had my own answering machine and microwave. It was exciting to be creating my own life and figuring out the meaning of it all.
