I looked forward to Charlie Brown Christmas and Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer every year. Vince Guaraldi, composer of the jazzy music accompanying the Peanuts story provided a happy soundtrack to the holidays. Since there was no on-demand options nor VCRs, I had to scour the weekly TV Guide (provided by the newspaper, not the book you bought at the store) to see when these annual shows would be on and always hoped they would not be a night of ballet lessons or Girl Scout meeting. The half hour of Guaraldi music along with my favorite animated gang was magical and never long enough. The feelings had to be stored up and held onto for another year.
