308. Robotic: Write about a robot.
Robots have held a strange spot in sci-fi stories with them being glorified and vilified for their similarity to yet alien to humans. They are portrayed as serving humans in tasks that are easy or that humans don’t want to do so we appreciate their service but it seems like human foibles are then projected onto these machines with our paranoia that if they were conscious, they would want to conquer humans. It’s actually the humans who are xenophobic and want to rid themselves of anything that is “other” but that desire is cast upon the robot that it is they, rather than we who want persecute and destroy. How convenient that this can all be played out in the safe milieu of books and movies.
