305. Fruit: Write an ode to your favorite fruit.
No ode, just a ramble here. I think I was in my late 20s before I discovered lychee fruit as dessert on a dinner date. I had heard about lychee and was intrigued by the name but had no idea what I would be getting on the plate. When the plump mounds of white, juicy flesh arrived, I was delighted by the aroma, texture, and delicious flavor. In Saipan, lychee occasionally would show up in the resort breakfast buffet at which time I ate as many as possible. While raising my kids in Santa Barbara, lychee would appear in the grocery store once a year and I would buy every last fruit. Yum.
