You have completed Part 1: Simple Site Design and Site Editing
– WordPress
WordPress was released May 27, 2003 I made my first blog post January 31, 2006 on a business related site. Blogs were all the rage and I wanted to get ahead of the curve in preparation for clients asking for one on their site. I wasn’t regular in my posting but I got the feeling for how it all worked. I think this familiarity with WP helped me get my web developer job at UCSB and once WP evolved from a Blog to a Content Management System, we moved the department and student groups to WP. I went to two WordCamps, watch the annual State of the Word by Matt Mullenweg, and created a lecture to teach students to edit their sites. When WP went from to a text editor to block editor, I resisted the first few years until the bugs were cleaned up. Then next big change was the site editor, which again I was a slow adopter for. But now I need to learn the new framework of block themes and patterns so I’m using the WP Learning Management System to understand the site editor. I’m glad to be learning new content.
