257. Magic: Write about a magician or magic trick.
Magic shows are fascinating to me in that although I know there’s some trick involved, I never can see it. It’s a constant “how did they do that?” The most enduring memory of a magic trick was David Copperfield’s 1983 televised trick of the vanishing and reappearance of the Statue of Liberty. The event was live, with people in attendance, and yet the trick worked for me. It was years and years later that, in 2017 on an episode of This American Life, titled “The Magic Show” that I learned how the trick was done. I was just as enthralled with knowing the reality of the trick as I was with experiencing the trick.
