If you love a fashion trend and it falls out of style, wait 30 years and it will become popular again. I wasn’t fond of the early 1970’s fashion so when it resurfaced when I was an adult, I refused to buy anything in that genre. The cold-shoulder craze a few years ago reminded me too much of the off the shoulder dresses I made in high school where the sleeves never stayed where you wanted them and slipped around too much so I never got a cold-shoulder outfit. I’ve been surprised with the increased midriff fashion and an increased casualness in all settings. I thought the peak of fashion was the 1980’s big hair, big bows, and all things Madonna so I did enjoy the resurgence of 1980’s neon.
There are articles about “what not to wear when you’ve over 50” but I think you should wear what you want, wear what you feel good in. Wear the heels to the grocery store, the tiara to the bank, and the faux-fur boots to the pharmacy. Own it, feel confident, express yourself.
