“& Juliet” is a 2019 coming-of-age jukebox musical featuring the music of Swedish pop songwriter Max Martin, with a book by David West Read. It is a re-imagining of Romeo & Juliet if Juliet had not killed herself at the end of the play. The production was amazing! The music, the costumes, the singing, and the dancing gave me joy. The Regent Theater was ornate and gorgeous.
I have always had a problem with Romeo & Juliet because they were so young and so stupid – I mean really stupid. I like that “& Juliet” had a more positive ending even it was just as unrealistic as the original ending.
