168. Baker’s Dozen: Imagine the scents and sights of a bakery and write.
My brother used to be a baker, starting his career in the bakery of an Albertson’s grocery store where he arrived to work at 3am to make bread. His main talent and interests were artistic so he was the chief cake decorator for the cakes in the case and for special orders. He moved his young family into the high desert so he could be a bakery manager at another branch and worked there until his oldest graduated from high school. At family gatherings, he always brought the rolls and desserts plus he even made and decorated my wedding cake. Sadly, carpal tunnel cut his career; it is a profession that is hard on the body. I miss his creations.
