116. All Saints: Choose a saint and create a poem about his or her life.
We “honor” saints for their holidays yet the stories we’re told about why we celebrate them is not really their story. Valentine, Patrick, and Nicholas have their days and when we’re young, we’re told one story about them and when we get older, we learn they weren’t all that was sold to us in our youth. All Saints Day is a better day since the day of the dead encompasses all of the saints which are indeed very dead. Why are we even acknowledging saints these days? Shouldn’t there be separation of church and state and call it a day?
