Cemetery Girl

I have not been a consumer of graphic novels. Even when my favorite Twilight was turned into a graphic novel, I didn’t even give it a second thought. When Charlaine Harris announced a graphic novel of a NEW storyline, I was tempted because I love the worlds and characters that Harris creates.

Illustrated by Christopher Golden, the story is of a 14-year old girl who is dumped in a cemetery and presumed dead. When she regains consciousness, she has amnesia but knows someone wants her dead. She makes her life in the cemetery with the help of the groundskeeper and nearby neighbor. When she witnesses a murder in the cemetery, the soul of the victim enters her and the cemetery girl understands the victims life. The rest of the story is about bringing the murderers to justice.

If it had been written in novel form, this would have been a short story. The imagery moves the story along as supporting words would have in story form. This was “book one” so there are more to come. As a pit-stop along the way of my regular consumption of stories, this is a nice addition.
