My blackberry and blueberry plants have done very well (raspberries and boysenberries not so much.) When Daughter comes home from school, she greedily falls upon the bushes to glean the most ripe berries. We’ve discovered that the berries need to be black for more than one day for them to be sweet. If they are ripe, they pull easily from their stem.
I like just wandering along the plants looking at how they are growing, admiring the fruit progression. This epitomizes the abundance of spring and the promise of plenty.
