Barrier

vertebreTwo years ago I was unable to do the SB Triathlon due to a knee injury. Last year I was prevented by a shoulder injury. I think this year, the culprit will be a bulging disk in my back.

Back pain causing tingling in my left arm led to an MRI which showed that I had a disk bulge between the C5 and C6 vertebrae and a larger bulge between C6 and C6. I get a “traction” evaluation in 10 days to see what the course of action should be.

Bottom line: no running. I’m disappointed that an injury keeps me from doing the physical activities I want to do.

I still bike ride, walk, lift weights and ocean swim. Running is my least favorite activity but I had psyched myself up for this year’s event.

I have wishful thinking that treatment will be brief and I will still be able to train. Maybe I’ll just walk the running leg of the triathlon?
