My kids have resisted Facebook for a variety of reasons, mostly because it’s something I do. I’m ok with that. I have promised that I would want to be their friend but that I would never comment on anything they posted nor would I tag them in anything.
Daughter is on her school theater board of directors and their communications and events all use Facebook, thus forcing Daughter to get an account. She didn’t even use her real name when signing up for the account, yet when she logged in for the first time and was presented with a list of people she might know, she did indeed know everyone on the list. How did Facebook know she knew all of these people when she didn’t use her real name and has never been to Facebook before? After being stunned, her first response:
I want to be able to write code that awesome and creepy.
Such high aspirations.
